The regular meeting scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6 has been canceled due to lack of a quorum.
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 am in the public library.
Members should watch for two email polls to be coming their way shortly. These polls will have a deadline and all members are asked to please respond in order to help with event planning for our 2009 season.

Hi All,
Once again my apologies to those of you who showed up for today’s meeting only to find me not there. I had thought by the responses that I was getting that there would not be enough people at the meeting to make a quorum and since I do have a business to run here, I did not want to jepardize that for a meeting with too few attendees. I am sorry to have misqued on this. It turns out that we might have had enough folks… this brings me to this email.
It seems to me that we need a better way of contacting everyone who needs the latest information on arts council events. Many of our summertime residents will be leaving shortly and face to face meetings will be harder, but we would still like them to be envolved over the winter.
The website seems to be the best, most complete way for all of us to stay in touch even though we are far away. We can do alot of business via the web even though a face to face meeting
is always best and we will continue with them as long as possible. Our next meeting is scheduled for September 29th at 10 am in the library. Please give me an indication that you can attend or not attend this meeting.
On our website we have the latest information about events, we also have been storing documents that will help those who want to volunteer to co-ordinate an event. We now have the Seldovia Arts Council Event Planning Checklist which will be available to all event leaders. We are going to ask that two separate parties volunteer for each event.(not in the same family). This way no one will be left holding the bag if something drastic changes over time.
Basic issues before us:
In the FEB and March( Spring) we have contracted for two events:
1. A hot dance group: hosted formerly by Mary Glover, but now needs a new host as the Glover’s plans have changed.

3. The Seldovia Summer Solstice Music Festival. June 18,19,20 a timeline will be presented as to when activites should be accomplished by committee chairs.
4. We have and art show co-ordinated by Savannah
6. We are in desperate need of a Secretary. We also need to hold an election of officers as per our by-laws. A date for this election and a means for gathering votes needs to be figured out.
5. What will our schedule for next summer look like. Who should we be looking for? Who is going to be in charge of what events:

I would like to have some fillms over the winter-time and some other small workshops such as the one presented by myself and Savannah..which would take place in the multi-purpose room perhaps…
However, I am not going to be present for awhile this winter. I need to go to my dad’s in California and help him with some things.
I was planning to go to FARWest, a booking conference in Phoenix this year. The Straniks and Tom Begich were going to help me with the guerilla showcases and SAC has paid for this already. However, it looks as if Tom may not be able to come and the Straniks as well.
It might be that I need to change conferences to one inwhich I can get a more balanced view of performers other than folk musicians, of which I am already well-versed. I need help with the booth and guerilla rooms and can ask for help from the attendees, but I am not sure I will get a hosting which is focused directly on Seldovia and the Seldovia Summer Solstice Music Festival.. plus.. I will need to stay in the room the entire time, man the booth myself etc. and will not see much else of the conference.
I might be better to bow out and go to Arts Northwest instead. I will know more when Tom calls me tomorrow.
